Notice how the word MoVI was absent from this article??
I like this camera. Hopefully there's a way in camera to crop out those fuzzy/rounded edges.
Yes, these lenses will cover a micro 4/3rds sensor and the super 16mm sized sensor the BMPCC has. That's what they're designed to do. There will always be a crop factor when using a sensor smaller than a full frame one. The focal length doesn't change from one sensor (or film size) to the next. The angle of view will. The BMPCC has a larger (around 2.88x) crop factor than the GH4 (around 2x). For example, if you want the same angle of view a 50mm lens on a full frame camera, you'd need a 25mm lens on a GH4 (25mm x the crop factor (2) = 50mm) or a around 17mm lens on a BMPCC.
If you like dynamic range, lack of rolling-shutter issues, accurate colors and beautiful skin-tones, roll-off in highlights and shadows, easier archiving, film is still the way to go.
If you like being able to shoot in lowlight, view what you shot instantly, not dealing with a lab, working with lighter cameras, digital is the way to go.
I like to think film retains some of the spirit of the scene. The actual photons that bounced off the actor were imprinted into the film. In digital, they're merely interpreted by a sensor and processor.
Great idea, mediocre execution. I'd prefer a real follow focus knob and power from a standardized, removable battery. Unfortunate for this company as I'm sure a competitor will make the improvements and profit on this companies idea.
