So so tempting..... BUT, I still can't get over the video quality. GoPro footage as well as these kit cameras just don't cut it. The image has always looked way too brittle, overly distorted, and the compression can't cope with the massively wide ranging detail it needs to process, especially during moving shots. This begs the question I've been asking for awhile now... Why can't DJI release something in the $2,000-ish dollar range that supports a camera like the Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera? The image quality and compression are light years better, and I can't imagine it would be that massive of a weight difference to justify the huge leap in cost to the next model up.
Hey Joe. Thanks for the post! We've been waiting for this upgrade for about a month now. It's really going to breathe some new life into our FS700 for sure!
Also, from my understanding, you're leaving out a big piece of information especially for FS700 and FS7 users. It's the fact that there are NO LICENSING FEES to record the RAW signal on the Shogun. Other recorders (like the Odyssey 7Q) charge up to $800-$1000 dollars for a lifetime raw processing fee. This can obviously make a huge difference in your decision making when you're comparing the Shogun with other recorders.
Let's not forget about the soon to be released Atomos Shogun 6.4 update to support 4K ProRes and 4K RAW for the FS700. It will easily be one of the cheapest 4K recorder options since Atomos won't be charging a licensing fee like the Odyssey 7Q.
Please correct me if I'm wrong btw...
You my friend have no perspective at all. Just wanted to let you know before your comment gets deleted.
