My artwork takes a critical perspective of cultural issues. In my work, I combine ideas of American, Chinese and Japanese culture, human history, adventure, music, nature, memory, fantasy, futuristic world and animation into one single piece that aim to engage the audience on an emotional level and invite them to a world of speculation where friends and families learn to understand and appreciate each other on a deeper level. In addition, by engaging three cultures, my works aim to recreate a new type of culture that could be a representation of my self-reflection to the world. Through the convergence of all these things that impacted my childhood and throughout adulthood, my visual works offer a better explanation on how I interpret the society as a collection of different thoughts and ideas.
Often time, my works combines the current technology such as camera and software to create stories that brings out the idea of opportunity; opportunity that gives us all the freedom to express ourselves. My motivation for film is to tell the world about how pursuing dream takes courage and determination and therefore, learning to show appreciation to one’s vision and goals is what defines us as an artist. On a personal level, I admired the process of making films because it has the power to connect everyone who is different in background, opinion, and idea to come together in one platform.
