Vazen is a Chinese lens manufacturer that gained recognition for its affordable Micro Four Thirds anamorphic lenses. Specifically, the 28mm and 40mm 1.8x. In a press release, the company has announced a new full-frame 85mm T2.8 1.8x anamorphic lens

Like the MFT predecessors, it touts a compact and lightweight designit's only 6.89" long and weighs only 3.28 lbs (1.49 kg). The front end element provides a 1.8x squeeze that's going to produce those familiar anamorphic image qualities, like an oval bokeh and horizontal lens flares, while delivering a 2.39:1 aspect ratio.

The lens has an 86mm front filter thread for NDs and a 95mm front diameter for matte boxes. As you'd expect from cine friendly glass, standard 0.8 mod gears are found on the aperture and focus rings. Unfortunately, Vazen says nothing about the focus throw. However, the lens is equipped with an interchangeable PL and EF mount.

You can expect the lens to fully cover the sensors of the RED Monstro, ARRI Alexa LF, Kinefinity Mavo LF, Sony VENICE, and Z-CAM E2-F8 cameras. The 85mm T2.8 1.8x is available now for around $8,000 USD. Additionally, a 55mm and 105mm will be released later in 2020. If you can hold off, there might be a discount for the 3-lens set.
