The gimbal market for smartphones is packed with competition, and that's why Zhiyun offers several content-creator-friendly options including the Crane-M2, Smooth-X, Smooth-XS, and Smooth-Q2. Their latest, the Smooth-Q3, takes on more of a classic gimbal design similar to the DJI Osmo Mobile 3, allowing you to switch from low to high modes a lot easier.
The Smooth-Q3 is a 3-axis gimbal that captures buttery smooth footage when you record video with a smartphone. Its compact design is completely foldable and allows you to capture moments in horizontal or portrait shooting modes. The handle features buttons for recording, zooming, and a multi-function button to access advanced features like panorama shots.
The Smooth-Q3 has many features that take the gimbal to the next level. For starters, there's an integrated fill light with three different brightness levels. Better yet, the light is rotatable, so you can use it in selfie mode or facing forward. The Smooth-Q3 has gesture control where you use a single hand gesture to control the shooting. Zhiyun has also added a "Multiple You" feature where you can clone yourself on the same screen with MagicClone Pano.
While using the ZY Cami app, there's a tracking option in SmartFollow 3.0 where the gimbal will follow what's selected in the spotlight. This is an especially handy feature for recording yourself as a solo shooter. With ZY Cami editor you can take full control of your clips, copying, reversing, adding effects, and more. Additionally, if you're a ZY Prime member, you can livestream to several platforms through AILive in the ZY Cami app.
ZY Cami is available for both iOS and Android phones.
In terms of the operation time, the Smooth-Q3 will give you around seven hours of standard runtime and around 15 hours with standby.
