Tehkron CagePro for GoPro HERO3The GoPro HERO3 has really brought the popularity of the ultra-portable cameras to a whole new level with incredible performance in a very tiny package, but there are still some major gripes from filmmakers who are trying to have more control over their image and want a better way to power and mount the device. In comes the Tehkron CagePro. The cage is designed not only to let you power your GoPro with the very popular Canon LP-E6 batteries (used in cameras like the 7D and Mark II/Mark III), it will also let you attach filters to the front of the camera to better control exposure (rather than just letting the camera set a very high shutter speed). Click through for more on the cage. More »

DimpleSticksMany stabilization rigs offer modification with different modules, attachments, and accessories, but a tool was brought to my attention that not only seemed highly useful, but brought me back to my Lego-ladden childhood, DimpleSticks. Developed by filmmaking gear (including the Fifty Dollar Follow Focus) manufacturer Hondo Garage, this all new connection system can be built around Hondo’s base rigs to erect several different types of stabilization configurations. To get an idea of what DimpleSticks can do, continue on. More »

That’s why Jared and the team at Wide Open Camera have come up with a metal housing they are calling the Combat Cage. They’ve taken to Kickstarter to fund the project, so click through to learn more about it. More »

Are you happy with your DSLR support system? I’m not — for a number of reasons — but chief among them is the issue of front-heaviness. As much as possible I’d like my 5D to behave like a 35mm (motion picture) film camera, which would mean moving some of the weight of the camera (and the lens, and the matte box, etc.) off the arms and onto the shoulder. Viewfactor’s CONTINEO powered cage looks like it might be a nifty way to do this, by virtue of hooking up the DSLR to a Anton Bauer brick battery — which can be positioned behind the shoulder as a counterbalance. Here’s a quick preview of the CONTINEO from Cinema5d: More »
