H.265—What's the hold up?
When will H.265 become a thing and start saving us all harddrive space, card space, and streaming speed?
Why hasn't this become the new standard?

Couple of reasons I can think of:
1. Encoding H.265 takes a lot more computer resources, hardware needs to catch up.
2. H.265 is still in the process of being 'fine tuned'
3. H.264 licensing fees are much higher and there are multiple parties
4. Not all media players have implemented the codec
5. Browsers cannot use H.264 unless they cough up the licensing fees
6. Some parties are still promoting VP9 as the alternative

Oops, the H.264s obviously need to be H.265 in the prior posting.
