ABOUT Nick Shaw
Nick Shaw has been working in post production for 25 years, but has wide experience of many areas of the film and TV industries. His time as an editor coincided with the transition from linear to non-linear editing, and he has experience of all the major non-linear systems.
He saw the potential of digital cinema cameras as soon as they started to become available, and has worked with all of them, often beginning to test and develop workflows before the cameras were on general release.
He was always interested in cutting edge approaches to film making, and his technical background (he originally studied electronic engineering) has enabled him to spot gaps in workflows, and develop solutions to fill those gaps. His LogC plugin for Final Cut Pro was adopted worldwide, contributing to the success of the ARRI ALEXA camera.
He has provided consultancy to productions including major feature films, international TV spots, TV dramas and cutting edge special venue projects. He has also advised software companies, including FilmLight, The Foundry and Blackmagic Design on improving digital cinema camera workflows with their products.
Nick also provides workflow training. He has written documentation and made training videos for manufacturers, and has presented at major shows, including IBC, The BSC Show and BVE Expo, and has given workflow presentations for companies including RED and Canon.
