Tablet as monitor: this is our chance

Ever since the introduction of tablets indie filmmakers have been trying to turn these tablets into low-cost field monitors. This was partially possible with android devices and canon camera's using WIFI. As seen here:
The problem with this method however is that the frame rate is really low (15fps).

This problem would be solved using HDMI from the camera to the tablet. Only, there isn't a single tablet with HDMI-in and no manufacturer wants to implement an HDMI-in because of the added costs and the low demand. Now we, as a community, have the chance to change this.

Jolla is crowdfunding an new tablet and they are asking the community for idea's. I feel that if we as the filmmaker-community shout loud enough they might just listen to us.

Just think of the prospect of using your tablet as a fieldmonitor; camera controls on a big touch screen, extremely sharp, only 250 dollars, no weight of an added monitor.

If they're making a tablet with an HDMI input for the sole purpose of making it a monitor, doesn't that mean that the company is just making a monitor?
