Windows 10

What are people hearing about Windows 10 and Direct X 12 and the performance of Adobe CC products?

Are you looking to upgrade? It's apparently free for the first year if you are coming from Windows 7 or 8.1.

From the beta testers I know, Windows 10 is rock-solid with better memory management, especially when running on computers with little memory.

I will still install the $5 StarDock "Start8" menu replacement system which provides a Windows 7 menu system on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, and soon on Windows 10.

I've been using Windows 10 all week long and I haven't run into a single problem. I primarily run Photoshop, After Effect, and Premiere and it's been smooth as silk. It's certainly snappier in overall performance.

Running Windows 8.1, happy with it, see no reason to upgrade any time soon.

The problem will come when MS stop support and you will have to buy a copy of Windows, rather than make the switch for free now.

Stop support for Windows 8? That will be a very long time from now!

Once W10 is fully out, how many W8 users will be left? At the moment there are more using Vista than W8. i think that the big issue for people such as yourself is that the W10 performance improvements will help with video editing considerably.

Feel free to share objective reports about this W10 performance. :)

An OS hardly contributes to the performance of both rendering videos and the general operation of an NLE.

The idea that some new version of some OS suddenly makes applications faster is based on 100% hype.

What does increase performance is faster CPUs, more cores, faster channels to GPU(s) and memory, more memory and faster hard drives.

Better memory management will help. I will reserve my comments about W10 as my turn to update has just failed as have many others, it seems.

At 1 am last night, I wanted Bill Gates crucified on a burning woodwormed cross. This morning, the man is a genius. W10 up and running. 2 serious obstacles overcome with help from the net.

What problems were you having? Do you have an Adobe suite? How does it run?

1. 2 very technical obstacles to installation that had to be overcome.
2. No
3. Not dissimilar to Win7

Once installed, everything is OK but much of it seems change for the sake of it. All the clever stuff like memory management are invisible to the user but the UI is greatly changed.

it is evidently better with memory management and processing than windows 8. Now my premier pro CC 2k15 doesnt crash when they are a few programs running at the same time.
