360 Audio

I have just about got my head around 360 video filming, editing etc but I would now like to add 360 audio into the mix.

I have seen microphones such as the Zoom H2 and other manufacturers offering 360 recorders but are they any good and how would you add this into your edit, would it just be classed as a stereo channel or is there specialist software I would need to use then re sync later?

Thanks

While there are 5.1 ( 6 channel ) and 7.1 ( 8 channel ) surround sound microphones, I am not sure if any of the 360 video players will maintain the correct audio orientation while the viewer moves around within your 360 video.

Thanks for your response Guy.

I have seen a couple of examples on Youtube (only works in certain browsers and Android) where the audio does seem to follow the orientation - this could just be a trick of the mind and actually be surround sound as you suggest though.
