4K footage into 1080 timeline problem - HELP!

hi everyone,
I have the classic combo GH4 + Sigma 18-35 + Speedbooster

I'm shooting cinema 4k and it looks great, but when I drop the footage in a 1080 timeline on fcpx, the shots made at 18mm really lose quite a lot of detail! the shots made at 35mm don't have the same problem...has anyone ever had the same problem?
thanx!!!!!

Is the 18mm footage softer in 4K as well?
Since the timeline can't know the difference in focal length it has to work with the visuals only. What differences can you see in 4K?

hi walter, thank you for your reply!

no, 18mm in 4k timeline is perfect, crisp and clear!

in a 1080 timeline it looks ok in the small window, but maximizing the window becomes mushy and less detailed than a 1080 shoot! :-(

How curious...are you sure your preview box is set "Full," or maybe you have it as 1/4 or what not and looks less detailed?
Also could be an issue of scaling to fit. Make sure your clips are scaled correctly. Might not be any of these but just some suggestions.

Dropping 4K into a 1080P timeline, you have to set you scale at %50
