GH4 HDMI output resolutions

I am trying to get my GH4 to output to a "Clip" so I can view on my iPad. The reason for this is to frame shots while the camera is on my drone. The clip will work when I set the GH4 at some lower resolutions but not at higher resolutions. This happens even when I am not shooting video. I'm thinking the HDMI output is whatever the video resolution is set for even if taking stills. Is there a way to set the HDMI output so that it is constant no matter what video resolution I choose? Link to website for the Clip is below. Thanks for any help.

I'm not sure how much of this applies to using your GH4 with the CLIP, but all HDMI devices have to go through a "handshake" process when they connect that determines how they will work with each other. One of my field monitors takes 20 seconds to synchronize with my GH4 when I first connect it, while I have two other monitors that can make this connection in less than 10 seconds. ( and I've heard of some less expensive monitors that just won't connect at all with the GH4 )
