LUT & application of; Help

So I've recently invested in a A7s, and preparing my gear for shooting, also doing the editing too -

Been researching into LUTs and the use of them and I would like to get to grips with using them really.

I'm using a fairly old mac (5 years old) but still running FCPX fine and have a trial version of LUT utility -
All of my old footage is from a Canon 5D2 so the LUTS never really added anything to the picture as you can guess.

My question is this - Should I buy the LUT utility, or are there cheaper/better LUT tools out there that plug into FCPX?
I'm really looking for a plugin and not stand alone grading software as my mac would have a mental breakdown if I gave it more jobs to do...

Not sure about your specific question, however, I run Pr CC and as soon as you add a LUT the computer has to begin realtime (or not) rendering of the new footage and depending on your specs it may be extremely slow, have you tested it yet?

Can your computer run the free version of DaVinci Resolve 12 ?

The free version of DaVinci allows you to easily apply LUTs to your footage and it one of the best color grading apps around, so it's definitely worth spending some time to check it out.
