Panasonic 35-100mm f2.8 or something else for m4/3?

I already own the Panasonic 12-35mm f2.8 for shooting short films and music videos. I am looking to extend my focal range and I'm very interested in the 35-100mm. However, I've read a lot about the micro jitters issue which is putting me off slightly.

I'd like to know what you guys think of this lens for video or if there's another lens you would recommend instead? Also if anyone could shed some light on the jitters issue for video that would be very useful!

I'm using the Panasonic GH3

I owned the Panasonic 35-100mm f/2.8 for about 2 years, but sold it in the end because of the image jitter. It's a great lens for still photo work, and would be a great lens for video work if they could get rid of the jitter.

Unfortunately there are no other fast zooms with OIS for the Panasonic, so the alternatives as I see it are...

- The Olympus 40-150mm f/2.8 zoom. No OIS but it's fast and sharp and covers a great focal-length range, and it's almost the same price range.

- The Sigma 50-100mm f/2.0 zoom which is even faster. No OIS and I've heard that it really shifts focus as you zoom so it's more of a variable focal-length lens.

- The trusty old Nikon ED AI-S 80-200mm f/2.8, which has a great focal length range and is pretty sharp. ( buying used it's in the same price range as the Panasonic lens )

I still hope Panasonic revises the 35-100mm f/2.8 lens to eliminate the jitters, because it's a perfect lens otherwise for the Micro 4/3 format.

Thanks for your insight! Did you experience the micro jitters even after the two firmware updates?

Yes, which was surprising. The Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 lens had the same micro-jitters but Panasonic fixed it with a firmware update, but the two firmware updates for the 35-100mm f/2.8 lens did nothing for the micro-jitter problem. Very frustrating.

Could I ask what camera you used? I am finding reports that the updated firmware has varying success with different cameras.
