Should I buy the Lumix G7 or GH3

Hi all, I'm hoping that someone can advise me on what camera to buy. I'm in my second year of uni, studying film production & I really want to create some short narrative films. However, I'm unsure of what camera to buy. My budget is around 600 pounds for the body only (I know I need to take audio, lighting, rigs etc. into consideration). I know the Lumix G7 has built in 4K, but will it make much of a noticeable difference? I can get both of these cameras for around the same price (G7 a little cheaper) Would you recommend either of these cameras or something else completely? Thanks in advance :)

The main advantages of the GH3 are...
- Weather-sealed body so you can shoot in rain or snow with no problems.
- Unlimited recording time, just like the GH4 camera
- 3+ hour battery life ( 6+ hours if you add the battery grip )
- Compatible with all GH4 accessories

The main advantages of the G7 camera are...
- 4K image ( more detail, no moire, very little aliasing ) the GH3 occasionally shows moire in it's video shots. ( I once had to redo a paid interview shoot because of GH3 moire )
- Better dynamic range than the GH3 ( equivalent to the GH4 in most picture modes )
- 4K Photo mode

If you don't need a weather-sealed body, a really long battery life, or an unlimited shooting time, then I would buy the G7 for it's higher quality video image ( better dynamic range and no moire in 4K video ) and 4K photo mode.

Thanks a lot, Guy! I was hoping you'd provide some insight lol. I'll go with the G7

Guy is absolutely right in every thing he said. Just thought I'd add one other thing that might be of importance to you: the GH3 has an audio output jack, so you can monitor what you're recording with some headphones. The G7 doesn't, which may or may not matter, depending on what kind of audio gear you're planning on using.

Thanks very much for responding. I'll go with the G7 and invest in some external audio equipment :)

You should wait till after NAB to buy anything as I am sure there will be a ton of new gear to choose from.
