Star Power (of any kind)

I'm hearing a lot about how much help having a celebrity in your movie can give you. I have a film I'm preparing to shoot right now that includes 2 characters (1 major and 1 minor) that are both only heard as voices over the phone. What if I found celebrities to play these characters? Does anyone think that this would help me in any way, at all?

A couple of years ago a local Indie film-maker put together a successful crowd-funded project by getting a well known older Canadian actor to sign on, and he was able to reach his funding goal in only 12 days.

Here's a blog-post he made about his film project...

Thanks for the reply. Funding isn't really the problem, though. I'm wondering more about getting is into festivals or getting it distributed. I'm wondering how far having someones name attached could get me, even if you don't end up seeing their faces.

I think it definitely helps, and can be a big deal if you can get the famous person on camera.

I'm not sure about "phone audio" of someone famous, unless they are telling a great story over the phone so audio quality won't matter at all.

Thats true. I was also thinking in terms of having that famous persons name attached. It might look attractive to festivals or distributors. I just want more people to see the movie, ya know?

Of course having names attached to anything would help recognition. Your question should be how do you get those names? -Lots of money, connections, or an amazing script/cause.
