Zoom h2

Hi I'm thinking of purchasing the zoom h2 (not h2n) as a preamp for my rode videomic go, I will not be using the built in microphone. I am wondering if it is worth picking up the zoom h2 as I have heard the canon 700d (my camera) has a terrible preamp, thanks.

The H2 is a toy for recording band jams. If you want better audio than what you already have, try one of the TASCAM portable recorders. I have a DR-60d and it is a huge improvement over even the H4n.

You voted '-1'.

I am on a tight budget and can't really afford anything more than $90 what should I get?

For that budget, you're in just as good of shape recording on-cam. You might be able to get a used H4 (original) but it won't be a HUGE improvement. Of course, a greater influence than the recorder is the microphone. What are you using?
