Magic Bullet Quick Looks Limited: 20 Color Correction Presets Free for No Film School Readers

Red Giant's Magic Bullet Looks is an aggressive color correction tool. For a more subtle approach, I recommend Colorista, but for dramatic results very quickly, it's hard to beat Looks. Quick Looks Limited is, as you can guess from the name, a limited set of twenty presets from Looks -- free for NFS readers! Anyone can sign up using the link at the bottom of this post, but this bundle was only available with certain purchases previously. Now it's gratis for anyone to experiment with:

Quick Looks Limited provides a fun sampling of the power of our popular Magic Bullet Quick Looks plug-in, with access to a library of 20 presets inspired by the look of feature films like The Matrix, Saving Private Ryan, and Traffic. Set the mood of your footage for everything from a wedding to the next Sundance original.

Here's a look at the full version of Quick Looks, which runs $99:

Not sure if that creating your own 'look' could be defined as the 'point of film'. Not sure it's worth complaining about a bunch of free presets no matter how good/bad you think they are.

I use quick looks, mojo and colorista free to grade my stuff, and I seriously love them

if you're a very experienced user, you can get a lot more from the full looks and colorista II; but if you don't have those already, quick looks and colorista free are actually quite useful

the looks I use most are "white diffussion", "black diffussion" and "warm dream" (or something like that); just add it to your (already color corrected) footage, dial the effect down to taste (the presets are purposedly too strong), and enjoy the very pleasing effect

some examples here:

(just look at the effect, don't be too harsh on me: that's not paid work, I just took my camera to a friend's wedding)

Samuel, I'm loving that 35mm lens. Looks so pretty.

yes, it is awesome: super sharp (even though it has some dust inside, including a long filament just on the rear element) and with breathtaking bokeh

you can see it in action here too:

Are you always making feature films or do you do other video stuff that might require "looks?"

Arthur, do us all a favor: please change your name and stop hating so much. Appreciate it.

Yeah, that name was getting on my tits too. What a chump.

Huge props on Man Child by the way, Koo. Just followed your lead and cut a multimedia look book for a feature I'm trying to get financed. I think it's a good idea - so often your past work has no bearing on your future and the only way to get your vision across is with other images.

Arthur, I guess you kinda figures, since you realised it was about the last name. Nobody actually mentioned that before you did.

Koo, do you know if Looks will work with FCPX? I'm making a point of not looking back. ;o)
