Today is Father's Day, and we thought it'd be a hoot to check out all of cinema's greatest, strongest, slightly inept, maybe even evil, but totally hilarious, and, of course, completely memorable daddios in this supercut by Keyframe's Nelson Carvajal.

Characters like George Bailey, Royal Tenenbaum, and Guido from It's a Beautiful Life are more than mere characters in films; many of them became father figures to us, or at least reminders of how awesome our own fathers were. (I always saw my dad as an Atticus Finch/Darth Vader hybrid.)

So, not only is today a good day to call up your old man, it's also a good day to watch some of the films shown in the supercut. My personal suggestions which feature my favorite movie dads are:

  • To Kill a Mockingbird
  • Bicycle Thieves
  • Life is Beautiful
  • The Royal Tenenbaums
  • Father of the Bride
  • The Incredibles
  • Finding Nemo
  • The Lion King
  • Mrs. Doubtfire
  • Kramer vs. Kramer
  • My Life
  • Selena (Edward James Olmos teaching a young Selena how to say "reloj" properly reminds me of my own dad teaching me how to roll my r's...so, this is more for me than it is for you.)

Happy Father's Day, everyone! What are your favorite film fathers? Which films would you suggest for Father's Day?
