Essential Accessories

What do you think are the most essential accessories that a film maker must own?

- Camera
- Memory cards an batteries for camera
- Basic lenses ( wide, normal, telephoto )
- Cine tripod that can properly balance your camera
- HD field monitor to frame and focus your shots
- Audio mics
- Audio recorder
- Audio boom
- Lighting gear and stands

...Sliders, jibs, and gimbals are nice add-ons, but I wouldn't consider them essential to a basic shooting kit.

If you're talking about bare minimum...

*Camera (a DSLR is a great place to start)
*Prime Lens (35mm or 50mm)
*Multipurpose Audio Recorder w/ integrated mic (example: h4n or h6)
*Utilize Natural Light (this will teach you basics of lighting before you start to incorporate lighting kits)

It's about the end goal, technically people have made films with just an i-phone. The kit can be as basic as you want to make it... Essentially you don't need all the bells and whistles to create a fantastic film. A great story, acting, and editing will go a long way...
