GH2 vs ???

I want to spend around $400 on a camera for filmaking. I know it is not a big budget at all but from doing some research online it seems the GH2 is my best bet. As the video quality is good and I can use a hack to increase the quality even more. With that being said, in this price range is there any other cameras that can compete, or are even better than the GH2? Maybe a T3i with Magic Lantern?

Shane Carruth's Sundance winning feature film "Upstream Color" (2013) was entirely shot with Panasonic GH2 cameras, which is a testament to the ability of the GH2 camera. It's a great little camera that becomes even better once it's been hacked. My favorite hack when I owned a couple of GH2 cameras was Lee Powell's excellent "FlowMotion ver 2.02", which was a perfect combination of low artifacting combined with high image detail. ( you will need fast SDXC 64GB cards to shoot at the full 100+ Mbps setting, like the SanDisk 64GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I memory cards )

There's no possible comparison between the video quality of a unhacked GH2 and a unhacked Canon T3i - the GH2 blows it out of the water.

With both hacked, it gets close, but the raw files on the T3i would be much bigger than the +/- 100mbps files on the GH2.
