Going to review the Ursa Mini - What would yall like to know!

Im an LA based DP with a director friend who has the ursa mini on pre order - we are shooting a short film in Aug and wanted to use the opportunity to review the camera in a real world scenario and wanted to know what you guys would most like to know about the camera. I have a Red Epic Dragon and have worked with the Alexa on many occasions and for me, I want to see how it compares to those cameras.

Let me know what you would like to see in a review! Thanks!

I would be curious to know how it compares with the Sony FS7, as the FS7 is much closer in price to the Ursa Mini, where a RED Epic Dragon in a completely different price range. ( just make sure the FS7 has the latest firmware, as Sony has fixed a few FS7 problems via firmware upgrades )

I'll just be impressed if your friend gets it by August.

It's the camera we're looking to purchase at work, pending renting and trying it out. I have a preorder for a rental, but I'm not holding my breath for the delivery date.

You're in Madison/Huntsville AL, right? If so, I'll be hitting you guys up for a rental or two soon. Especially if you're going to get the Ursa Mini in the near future.

I'm only interested about the DR how good is it in the highlighted area
and off course the black highlight.

good luck waiting for the camera.

I'd be happy if you could test how it handles overexposed zones. Highlight rolloff, color saturation, etc. Also, how it handles itself in lowlight shooting. (pushing dark area in post) in both Pro Res and RAW of course. Happy shooting! It looks like a great camera.

If you need an AC, I'm more than familiar with the Blackmagic cameras, and I'm itching to get my hands on the Mini. And I live in LA. ;)

But otherwise, I'd be interested in seeing if a) there are any crop factor issues, b) how the battery life is, and c) how much footage the CF cards can hold, and if they can really be swapped during shooting, and if it affects the camera's stability while doing so, or if it drops any frames while doing so.

Hi Chaz, thank you for asking ! I have a question indeed, you can check if they have fix the fixed pattern noise issue that was on the ursa. You see it in the darker area when working with high iso value. You can also check the dynamic range, see if it is as good as it was advertise.
Thanks in advance !

How is the 4.6K sensor when compared to their 4K garbage? I had to use the BMPC4K again the other day to match colors with a previous shoot and ugh. I hate that thing oh so much. Literally everything about it.

As for the new camera: Highlights are the definitely the big thing. Does it have the black/purple issues? Can you pull any information out of highlights that look like they were clipped, whether they should have been or not? Is there fixed pattern noise?

Also, how do the in-camera metering systems work? Do the zebras kick in at the right time to warn you about overexposure? How's the histogram? Can the screen be trusted at all?

Also, what everyone else said: Good luck getting a BlackMagic camera on time.

1) Audio quality in camera
2) How easily/ if it mounts to the ronin m (or similar systems)
3) Review of any of the new blackmagic accessories for it.

How does it feel to operate on the shoulder (with the shoulder mount attachment if you get it)
