Rode NTG2 - very low input volume level.

Hi! I am using Zoom H1 and a RoDE NTG2 mike. With fully charged battery I receive a very low record level, not even reaching -24 dB. The input level is good when microphone is extremely close to the sound source. I used it also with Zoom H4 and encountered the same problem. Does anyone know how to fix it?

The Rode NTG-2 mic requires a lot of gain to get a good signal out of it, which means it's not going to work well with low cost audio recorders.

You need to either add a mixer with good preamps or switch to a hotter mic like the Sennheiser MKE-600 shotgun.
