Grab your trunk and a pitcher of Butterbeer, because it is time to return to the wizarding world of Harry Potter.

Can you believe it has been 20 years since Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone hit theaters? Neither can we.

For the first time ever, the cast from all eight films will reunite for a special 20th anniversary special hosted on HBO Max. Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will feature the beloved trio, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, who first arrived at the magical school of wizardry back in 2001.

Other stars who will return for the special include Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James and Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch, Ian Hart, filmmaker Chris Columbus, and more!

J. K. Rowling, the writer and creator of Harry Potter who has been criticized for her transphobic comments, is not scheduled to appear in the special.

The event will showcase the behind-the-scenes magic that went into creating the universe, all-new in-depth interviews, cast conversations, as well as celebrate the franchise’s legacy that is still held and cherished in the hearts of devoted fans across the world.

“This retrospective is a tribute to everyone whose lives were touched by this cultural phenomenon—from the talented cast and crew who poured their heart and soul into this extraordinary film franchise to the passionate fans who continue to keep the Wizarding World spirit alive 20 years later,” said Tom Ascheim, President of Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults, and Classics.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone had a budget of $125 million and grossed over $1 billion worldwide. The special effects, costume design, themes of bravery, and relatable characters made the film an instant hit that captivated both kids and adults alike.

Before the retrospective premiere hits HBO Max on Jan. 1, 2022, fans can check out more 20th anniversary content on WizardingWorld.com.
