James Cameron has been adamant about people watching his 2009 epic Avatar before watching the long-awaited sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, on Dec. 16. To ensure that people see Avatar in its full glory, a remastered version of the film is being released in theaters everywhere.

Overseas, Disney began the rollout of the remastered version yesterday, and audiences are being treated to a sneak peek from the upcoming sequel. Avatar wasrereleased in Korea and France and will add all international markets this weekend except for Spain (which will have to wait until Sept. 30), China, and Russia.

Deadline reached out to Disney for a comment on the newly released footage for Avatar: The Way of Water, but Twitter came through by giving the world a short glimpse of the film tagged onto the end of Avatar.

It turns out the footage isn’t the same everywhere. Depending on the market and/or cinema, the footage being shown is not the same in every instance.

The 4K high dynamic range version will be playing over 8,000 offshore screens, with half of those screenings showing in the original 3D.

You don’t have to wait very long to watch the rerelease and catch a glimpse of the new Avatar film if you are in North America. The film will be rereleased in theaters on Friday.

The Way of Water is the first of several planned sequels and begins rolling out overseas on Dec. 14 and hitting North American theaters on Dec. 16. Although Cameron already has most of the footage for the next two movies shot and ready to edit, it’s unclear what those films will be about and when they will be released.

Until then, enjoy some of Twitter’s reactions to the sneak peek of the upcoming Avatar: The Way of Water.
