There is this idea that you are never truly done with rewrites. But at some point, you have to know when a script is ready to go.

So the question is: what does a production-ready script look like?

The answer is different for everyone, but Rian Johnson has never been shy about sharing some great writing/directing advice with his fans. Recently, Johnson took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to announce that he has released the screenplays for his Netflix film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Story and the pilot episode of his latest TV show Poker Face.

As Johnson states in the Tweet above, these are the two screenplays that he went into production with. While they may not be the exact scripts that we, as audience members, watch unfold on screen, they are a pretty great resource for writers to learn from.

While we will break down our favorite lessons learned from these screenplays at another time, we highly recommend that you check out Johnson's screenplays as he is one of the biggest writers/directors in Hollywood to date.
