While the Canon EOS R looks to be a highly polarized mirrorless offering for filmmakers and videographers heading into 2019, the rumors about Canon’s RF Lens Line continue to heat up. After the Canon RF 50mm f/1.2 dropped a few months ago, Canon Rumors is reporting a rumored new line with “as many as seven” new RF lenses coming here in 2019.

Let’s look at the lenses rumored.

Rumored Canon RF Lenses

From the same report, “Canon mentioned at the EOS R announcement that they’re working a series of f/2.8 zoom lenses, which is likely the ‘holy trinity’.” Along with these three RF zooms, the following lenses have also been rumored, bringing the total up to seven new RF options potentially set to release in 2019.

  • RF 16-35mm f/2.8L (or similar)

  • RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS (or similar)

  • RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS (or similar)

  • RF 105mm f/1.4L

  • RF 85mm f/1.8 IS STM

  • RF Macro lens

  • RF non-L kit lens

Furthermore, Canon has also been reported to be planning to release “at at least 15 new RF lenses over the next 30-36 months.” Which is good news for any Canon EOS R investors, but will like to see how this develops for any interested filmmakers.
