Back in April of 2016 we reported about a nifty little device for photographers and time-lapse enthusiasts one and all. It was making its runs through Kickstarter at the time and, after securing $131,337 of its $100,000 goal in 30 days, we're happy to say that it's now available for purchase.

The VIEW by is an update on the traditional intervalometer; it gives cinematographers and photographers the potential to use automatic bulb-ramping, live time-lapse previews—watched either on the VIEW or a smartphone—and touch-free gesture controls.

This sort of technology removes one of the most common frustration for time-lapsers: trial and error. As V. Renee remarked in our initial coverage, "This feature allows you to preview your time-lapse before it's finished—even while you're still recording it. You don't have to wait until you're done with the shot hours later to know what it looks like at full speed or find out that you missed something."

Timelapse+ has added a few other cool new features since its Kickstarter campaign ended. The VIEW now has integrations to automatically connect to the Dynamic Perception NMX motion slider via Bluetooth, and LRTimelapse support has been added to XMP data.

Additional new features include:

  • Automatically optimizes buffer time during ramping
  • Configurable ISO and shutter speed limits for auto ramping
  • Red theme option
  • Power button activates help screen for the currently selected item
  • Supports Canon, Nikon, and Sony Alph

You can purchase the VIEW now for $399,  and they are estimated to ship out by January 21st, 2017. Check out more footage from the Intervalometer here.
