Grip Gear's Smartphone Dolly Costs $99 and Fits in a Shoebox

Grip Gear has put together quite the package for anyone looking to get more serious about timelapse and smooth smartphone shots. The Movie Maker is both an 8-speed electronic slider and a motorized 360° panoramic time-lapse head.

It can be used with smartphones and action cams up to 1.2 lbs. in weight. You can use the tracks both vertically and horizontally, and you can charge it for up to three days of usage with a USB.

The whole package, including tracks, head, remote control and all, are being sold now for $99.

I know you get what you pay for ...but the demos of this were horrible. The movements were anything but smooth. Is there really a market for this?

I have mine since they first released it. I don't use it as much as I should but when I do use it I enjoy it.

Would this actually be useful for video, or is it strictly for timelapse? I see the benefit of the motor for time-lapse, for sure, and at $99, seems like a pretty great little kit - but wondering about the usefulness of video with this - how steady/smooth it actually is.
