How Daniel Day-Lewis F*cked Up 'Phantom Thread' with His Bad Acting

Paul Thomas Anderson's "Phantom Thread" is up for six Oscars...no thanks to Daniel Day-Lewis.

The 90th Academy Awards are but hours away, and as we all wait with squirrely anticipation, one can't help but look at all of the nominees in each category and wonder, "Why is Daniel Day-Lewis such a bad actor?" You know?

It's that same kind of sentiment you have when you're in line at the DMV, or when your tax refund is like, $27.50, or when you pour milk into your cereal thinking there was definitely enough but there totally wasn't, and now you have to basically eat sugary croutons for breakfast.

"Why is Daniel Day-Lewis such a bad actor?" It's the "Thanks, Obama" of 2018.

I know what you're thinking. You're thinking that Daniel Day-Lewis has always been regarded as one of the greatest actors of all time—the Meryl Streep of acting, if you will, but that doesn't seem to be the case according to one of the producers of Phantom Thread. In this video, Elise Barnett gives you an inside look at what it was really like to be on set with DDL.

Okay, before I have dudes in black suits throw a bag over my head, it's The Onion. For glorp's sake, it's The Onion! Daniel Day-Lewis is a phenomenal actor, alright? I just have to put that out there.

All kidding aside, you can watch Daniel Day-Lewis probably win his 4th Oscar at the Academy Awards tonight at 5 PM PST/8 PM EST on ABC.

I have a sneaking suspicion that V. Renee isn't a real person, but an fictional persona invented by NFS in order to post sponsored content and clickbait, to keep the actual writers from looking foolish for sharing this stuff.

You may have "professional" as a job title, but please don't mistake that for your writing ability. They are not synonymous Vanessa.

You know what NFS really needed? More fucking clickbait articles. Definitely don't try to focus on providing useful and informative content to video producers of all skill levels. Please just waste our time with terrible Onion spoofs, and make sure that you copy exactly what was said in the video into the article that way there's even less useful information.

In all seriousness, I'm sure it's challenging to write articles for websites, but if this is the most effort you're going to put in then why even bother? Join the damn Peace Corp and do something beneficial with your life.

"Articles" like this are way I get so pissed off every time I come to this site. All they do is copy/paste articles from better sites, barely credit them for their content, and slap their name on it.

I agree. Even if NFS has to slow down the rate of post on NFS, please focus on quality useful content geared towards the reason why people come to this site in the first place; to learn and appreciate filmmaking. Articles like these cheapen the experience unfortunately.

It'd be great if she just stopped contributing.

Yes, and of course it would mean that she will be rendered useless, pretty much just like now.

Ok, guys, we have to agree on this: let's not click on her shitty articles anymore.

Like me, you probably haven't read anything even remotely "ok" from her in like... in like EVER.

So let's STOP CLICKING ! Maybe it will get her fired.
