According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter, the popular Funny or Die program “Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis” is being picked up by Netflix for a full length movie. Production on this secretive feature has already begun. Here’s everything we know about it so far.

Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis The Movie

Originally created as a short sketch back in 2007, the show - which as its name implies - features host Zach Galifianakis sitting between two ferns. The show eventually found a home on Funny or Die with 21 episodes total spanning 10 years. It’s popularity was closely tied with Galifianakis’ own rise in the comedy and film communities and featured some pretty impressive guests going into its latest iterations.

Notable guest included:

A Scott Aukerman-helmed Project

THR also reports that original show creator Scott Aukerman (who created the first sketch with B.J. Porter for the Fox comedy pilot “The Right Now! Show”) and also directed the majority of the online episodes has been slated to direct. Aukerman - whose "Comedy Bang Bang" podcast spinoff TV series recently ended after 5 seasons - has developed a close comedic relationship with Galifianakis.

The online “Between Two Ferns” has several episodes which have “gone viral” for their awkward and uncomfortable interviews which often left guests confused and insulted. According to THR sources, Peter Dinklage, David Letterman, Keanu Reeves and Galifianakis’ Hangover co-stars Ed Helms and Bradley Cooper are all set to make cameos in the upcoming Netflix movie.
