Every year, people pile in to read the Academy Award nominations. While I love placing bets on Best Picture and Best Director, I always make it a point to watch the nominated short films. Maybe it's just my film school background, but shorts have always done an excellent job distilling the thoughts, ideas, and new voices across the world.
This year, we have an incredible array of shorts. There are films made by students, funded by the New Yorker, and lots of independent animators as well.
While it's hard to find many of these shorts online, we've got a round-up of links for you here. I hope you enjoy them and seek out these short films any way you can.
