AI Leaps Forward Again... Do Filmmakers Need to Worry?

In today’s episode, we discuss the 2022 Sight and Sound list of the best movies. Also, we chat about why cinema is not the all-healing tool of the universe, and we discuss the things that freak us out about AI technology.

In this episode, we talk about…

  • Our responses to the outrage of other filmmakers
  • Not caring what others think about your taste in movies
  • Three films that promote the healing power of cinema—Empire of Light, Babylon, and The Fabelmans
  • Written content produced by AI and the misinformation that comes with it
  • Why we need to stop lowering the bar intellectually
  • Developing that human touch that AI cannot grasp

After listening to this episode, I had a few thoughts. I don't think you guys considered that while ai might be detrimental to large industries, for independents like me, ai means that I can do more on my own faster. While ai could destroy many jobs, I think for many who don't have massive pockets or support, ai means being able to do more with less.

Just to set the stage, I love this podcast and listen religiously. I'm not sure what has changed in the last few weeks, but it seems the sound quality of the podcast is getting worse. It sounds as if you might need to back off the noise reduction filter a bit to avoid the weird "in a can" warped processed sound.
