The legend of The Sopranos grows every day. During the last year, we heard tales of lots of people finally watching the series in quarantine, and we've certainly felt the anticipation for the Sopranos movie, The Many Saints of Newark, which will come out this fall.

There's even a Sopranos podcast called Talking Sopranos run by Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa. They recently had Alec Baldwin on, who talked about wanting to be in the show, and wanting to play a hitman who killed Tony.

Baldwin said, “I called up whoever it was… and said… there’s only one man in this business who should come in, whack Jimmy, and ride off with Edie, and I am that man. They were like, ‘Sure, great. We’ll add your name to the list of all the Irish actors who think that they should be on The Sopranos.'”

Of course, no good casting story ends there. Baldwin also recalls running into the show's creator, David Chase, in a men's room.

Baldwin said,  “I’m holding my shirt up to the mechanical dryer, and the door opens, and… this is my introduction to David Chase. He goes, ‘Alec Baldwin? What the fuck are you doing, drying your shirt in the bathroom at the Four Seasons restaurant?’ And I think based on that alone, I was never cast on your show.”

Fans know Baldwin was never in the show, and we aren't totally sure if Tony got whacked at the end (writer's note: he did), but this is still an amazing story. It goes to show you that when you have a hit, everyone wants to be a part of it.

Are you a fan of the podcast? Do you wish Baldwin had made an appearance?
