Chest-Bursting News: 'Alien: Earth' Gets a Second Season
We're going to get the battle for control of the xenomorphs we've been waiting to see.

'Alien: Earth'
In a massive vote of confidence for both a new franchise and its creator, FX has officially renewed Alien: Earth for a second season.
But the renewal isn't even the biggest part of the story.
Alongside the Season 2 pickup, Variety reports that series creator Noah Hawley has signed a new multi-year overall deal with FX and Disney Entertainment Television. The deal is valued in the nine-figure range.
This is a huge win for Hawley and a clear sign that FX is all-in on his vision, both for the Alien universe and for whatever he dreams up next.
Let's dive in.
What We Know About Season 2
After a critically acclaimed first season, fans are already hungry for more, especially after the first season ended on such a cliffhanger.
According to Variety, all we know for sure now is that production for Season 2 is set to begin in 2026.
We also learned that the production is moving. While Season 1 was shot in Thailand, the second season will be lensed in London. This could signal a new setting for the story or simply a change in production logistics, with London having tons of available soundstages and being a cheap place to shoot.
FX Bets Big on Hawley
This nine-figure deal solidifies Noah Hawley's status as one of TV's most valuable creators and showrunners. His relationship with FX, which began with the Emmy-winning Fargo and continued with the visually mind-bending Legion, is one of the most successful partnerships in modern television.
FX Chairman John Landgraf praised Hawley in a statement, saying, “It has been our great privilege to work with Noah for more than a decade on some of FX’s best and biggest shows, and we are thrilled to extend our partnership well into the future." He continued, “Noah never stops surprising us with truly original stories — and his unique ability to bring them to vibrant life as a director and producer as well as writer makes him extraordinary. We can’t wait to get to work on the next season of Alien: Earth, as well as some equally exciting future projects in advanced development.”
“I’m thrilled that this expanded deal opens the door to new opportunities across all of Disney Entertainment Television,” said Hawley. “FX has always supported bold, character-driven storytelling. From the very beginning with Fargo, they’ve encouraged me to take creative risks and follow the story wherever it leads. I’m grateful to continue exploring the world of Alien: Earth alongside our partners, cast, and crew as we begin the next chapter.”
Summing It All Up
Hawley is the man behind some of my favorite TV shows ever, and FX is a network I turn to where I watch almost every show they have on the air.
Hawley has built a career on taking massive creative swings and backing them up with undeniable quality. Now, he’s been given a blank check (or at least a very large one) and the keys to one of the most iconic properties in sci-fi history.
And he has a network that not only supports him there, but also in whatever he's going to work on in the future.
That's pretty amazing.
