AMC is losing money and in trouble, so the theater chain is pulling out all of the stops and joining the movie theater rental game. For just $99, you can host a personal screening for one, or make it a private party for up to 20 people in total!

I am signing up and trying to grab a screen to watch Jurassic Park.

AMC has a list of movies on its website that you can select for your showing in the chain's newly branded Safe & Clean™ auditorium.

You book the theater via a schedule and a time. Not every AMC is doing this, but the site lists dozens of different options to pick from. AMC Theatres said on Tuesday that its "existing cash resources would be largely depleted by the end of 2020 or early 2021" if current trends persist.

This is one creative way to get people back into the cinemas safely.

AMC stated that the coronavirus has left them with a reduced slate of movie releases for the remainder of the year, and release dates may continue to move. The company went on to say, "Certain competitors have decided to temporarily re-close their theatres in light of the ongoing pandemic and the reduced slate of movie releases, which may further exacerbate the trend."

Only time will tell if this rental move helps them keep the doors open.

What do you want to see on the big screen? Would you pay $99 for it? Let us know in the comments.
