September 8, 2021
To win, use your editing skills to make a made-up brand ad, trailer, or music video with Artgrid footage and Artlist music.

This is sponsored content brought to you by Artgrid & Artlist.

How well can you cut? How hot are your hotkeys? Can you take a bunch of unrelated clips and dance with the keyboard to make movie magic?

If you are equipped with the most excellent of traits—mad editing skills—this challenge is for you!

Remember last year, when Artgrid & Artlist made the clever pandemic-themed STAY HOME travel video challenge? Well, they’ve brought the contest back—with a new twist and double the prizes.

This week, Artgrid and Artlist launched their second annual video editing creators competition: the Artgrid and Artlist Edit Challenge 2021.

To recap, Artgrid and Artlist are giving out $75K in filmmaking gear. And there’s more than one way to win.

What can you win?

The Artgrid and Artlist Edit Challenge is offering prizes for First Place, Second Place, Third Place, plus Judges Favorite in each of the three categories. Here’s a look at what you get if you win first prize in any category:

  • 3 x Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras 4K
  • 10 x full studio and portable Nanlite lighting kits
  • 10 x Zhiyun gimballs, including the newly released Weebill 2
  • 10 x BenQ post production monitors
  • 10 x RØDE microphones
  • 10 x Rhino RŌV Pro camera sliders + $500 Rhino Store Credit
  • 10 x Insta360 action cameras
  • 10 x Lume Cube light panels
  • 10 x MZed Pro subscriptions
  • 3 x DaVinci Resolve Studio
  • 10 x Artlist subscriptions
  • 10 x Artgrid subscriptions
  • 10 x Motion Array Subscriptions
  • Artlist & Artgrid Merch Kits

How does it work?

To enter, all you need to do is go to the Edit Challenge homepage here and download your Edit Challenge kit. Then, you create a video using only Artgrid footage and Artlist music, in one of three categories: a made-up brand ad, a made-up movie trailer, or a music video for an Artlist song.

Then, submit your entry by uploading your video to YouTube with "Artgrid x Artlist Edit Challenge", the hashtag #AGeditchallenge, and your video's category in the title.

For those dedicated keyboard jockeys, you get bonus points by sharing a timeline breakdown of your edit to Instagram. Just be sure to use the #AGeditchallenge hashtag and mention @artgrid.io & @artlist.io

Videos are judged on creativity, storytelling, and editing skills. (Judges this year include industry creatives Ryan Connolly, Cache Bunny, and Vania Heyman, to name a few.)

What kind of footage and music will you be working with?

Some of the best in the industry!

Artlist, if you’re not familiar, is a respected music licensing platform based on simplicity. You get unlimited downloads, and music is added every day.

Artgrid is an equally popular footage site, where with a yearly subscription you get unlimited downloads and any clip you download is yours to use forever. Artgrid’s universal simple license means you can use the footage you download on any platform or video project, even for commercial use. Unlike other platforms, Artgrid’s footage is story-driven and shot by top cinematographers in RAW and Log, and with high-end cameras like BMPCC, Ursa, Red, ARRI, and Phantom, with resolutions up to 8K.

Again, for the contest, you download the edit kit and cut together Artgrid footage and Artlist music.

When is the deadline?

The Edit Challenge launched this week and ends on Sept. 23. So get to it!
