Blackmagic Design’s New Cloud Store Ultra Brings Extremely Fast Flash Storage With Up to 48TB of Capacity
Blackmagic Design has announced Blackmagic Cloud Store Ultra, a new extremely high-performance flash storage offering RAID 5 support, 2 x 100G Ethernet, and Blackmagic Cloud sync.

Blackmagic Cloud Store Ultra
Another major announcement from a jam-packed slate of product introductions was ushered out by Blackmagic Design ahead of this year’s NAB conference in Las Vegas. Blackmagic Design showcased many new cameras and updates on the convention floor this year, and we’ve done our best to keep up with them all.
If you’re someone interested in cloud storage in particular, then this announcement is for you, as the company has introduced its new Blackmagic Cloud Store Ultra, which features some extremely high-performance flash storage with up to 48TB capacity and two independent 100G Ethernet connections that can let users record and edit simultaneously without either workflow interfering with the other.
Here’s everything you need to know.
Blackmagic Design Announces New Blackmagic Cloud Store Ultra
Set to be available in 24TB and 48TB models, this new Blackmagic Design Cloud Store Ultra will also feature RAID 5 support, dual redundant power supplies, and Blackmagic Cloud sync. Notably, it’s also designed rather specifically for those working in film and television productions who need to share large media files among multiple users.
"When recording 8 channels of video and editing at the same time, you need more than a single 100G port because recording ties it up completely. The Cloud Store Ultra solves this problem with two completely separate 100G Ethernet ports that won’t interfere with each other. The HyperDeck records to one port and customers connect their edit workstations to the other. I think it’s a fantastic companion to the HyperDeck ISO Recorder and the center of a whole film and television post production workflow!" - Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO.
With that being said, it’s also quite useful for a pretty wide range of other post-production applications as well. Overall, with its sleek rackmount design, it should be able to offer a nice, quiet front- and rear-cooling solution.
