Turns Out the Zombie Tiger from 'Army of the Dead' Belongs to Carole Baskin
Only in a movie as insane as Army of the Dead would they have a Tiger King crossover.
Zack Snyder is having a good 2021. His reissue of Justice League did well for HBO Max, and now everyone is talking about his new zombie movie, which is heading to Netflix. The reason is that the trailer is a ton of batshit fun, especially at the end, when we see a zombie tiger working with the army of zombies, ready to take down our heroes.
But what if I told you there was an even more wild story behind that tiger?
First, we learned that the tiger's name is Valentine. While on a panel for Justice Con, producer Deborah Snyder said that when the visual effects team needed to craft Valentine, they were looking for visual references. They wound up going to an animal sanctuary and modeling Valentine after one of the cats there... which they learned belonged to the Tiger King's nemesis, Carole Baskin.
In fact, they actually spent a week at Baskin's sanctuary crafting the look and feel of Valentine. All this work was done before Tiger King debuted on Netflix. So no one really knew there would be this fun tie-in later.
Snyder joked, “At least they got out of there alive."
