This Blazing Fast 1,000MB/s Portable SSD is Smaller than a Credit Card

The HyperDisk lets you carry up to 2TB of data right in your pocket.

When it comes to portable SSD drives, the Samsung T5 is a popular choice among indie filmmakers (especially BMPCC shooters). It's small, rugged, and has a fast read and write speed of about 540MB/s.

That's not too shabby.

But then you see something that shakes everything up.

The HyperDisk, a portable SSD that's live on Kickstarter right now, is not only smaller (by a pinch) than the Samsung T5, but it's faster and more affordable...like, by a lot.

The HyperDisk features a super tiny design, up to 2TB of storage, and is compatible with all Mac and Windows computers, iPhones and iPads, as well as Android smartphones and tablets that support Type C OTG.

However, the most impressive feature of the HyperDisk has to be its blazing-fast read/write speeds. This little guy can handle up to 1000MB/s thanks, in part, to its Intel flash technology.

Tech Specs

  • Up to 1,000MB/s read and write
  • Weighs 45g and is smaller than a credit card (3"x1.7"x0.43")
  • Intel flash
  • 512GB/1TB/2TB
  • 3.1 Gen 2 interface (10 Gbps) and M.2 NVMe
  • Compatible with iPad, Mac, and Windows computers, Android devices
  • 1-year "Change for New" service and 3-year limited warranty

Now, is the HyperDisk the fastest portable SSD out there? Is it the most affordable? Well, no and no. The Samsung X5 has read/write speeds of up to 2800MB/s, and there are a ton of knockoffs that you can buy for next to nothing online.

However, the HyperDisk fits right in that sweet spot: it's crazy fast (though not the fastest) and super affordable (though not the most affordable). For those who don't think twice before buying up the Samsung T5, you might want to consider taking a closer look at this thing, because it's cheaper, faster, and smaller.

Pricing and Availability

The HyperDisk is available in 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB models, both in silver and black.

  • 512GB: $85
  • 1TB: $139
  • 2TB: $209

The estimated delivery time for the HyperDisk is January of 2020.

It’s V Stiviano Renee. She never does any research into anything she writes. It’s usually just a story that popped up in one of her subscriptions then she just posts the video and writes about what the video already talks about.

Or she’ll rewrite about something she posted months ago (see how many times she’s written about “ways to use your gimbal”)

"Now, is the HyperDisk the fastest portable SSD out there? Is it the most affordable? Well, no and no." WTH Am I doing here then? Is it even reliable? Sorry, I won't put my precious data into some unproven brand on a Kickstarter campaign.
