Many hope, some dream, but no one knows with absolute certainty whether or not Sony is planning on releasing the successor to the highly popular a7S II mirrorless camera.

However, SonyAlphaRumors claims to have the first leaked photo of the a7S III, a camera that has attained an almost mythical status due to the fact that 1.) rumors have been flying around about it for so long, and 2.) Sony has been tight-lipped about what exactly they're working on.

Because we haven't heard anything officially from Sony, specs, pricing, and availability—and, uh—its very existence are all just rumor at this point. However, SonyAlphaRumors reports that they heard about a prototype having 4K120p and a ventilation system similar to the Panasonic S1H. Another thing they point out is that the EVF seems to extend out much further than it does on the a7R IV

SonyAlphaRumors says that they've got more proof to share next week, which makes one wonder...if they're able to get their hands on a leaked photo and whatever they're posting later, does that mean that Sony's close to an official announcement? CES maybe?

Again, we don't know for sure, but stay tuned and we'll update you when we do.
