Hearts Swell: The 14 Most Romantic Movie Lines
These lines are guaranteed to make you fall in love.

'Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers'
It's that time of year when the world falls in love and buys cards, chocolates, and diamonds to show it. Yes, it gets very expensive.
But if you're looking for a less expensive Valentine's Day, think about renting a romantic movie and letting the characters on screen do all the wooing for you.
I love cozying up on the couch with my wife, making the handsome men in her favorite romance movies do all the work, and then getting the benefits later.
And I love love watching those movies and having my heart swell, so I can find the right words later too.
But which lines from these romantic movies are the best? Here are 14 that stand out for me and that I think are some of the most loving words spoken of all time.
Let's dive in.
1. "I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone." — Arwen, 'The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring'
I don't care that it's from a fantasy movie; this is one of the most romantic things I have ever heard in my life. And it's part of what makes these films so special.
2. "You have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day forth." — Mr. Darcy, 'Pride & Prejudice' (2005)
Probably the best Jane Austen adaptation of all time, this movie lives rent-free in my brain at all times.
3. "It was a million tiny little things that, when you added them all up, they meant we were supposed to be together… and I knew it." — Sam Baldwin, 'Sleepless in Seattle'
There's something about Nora Ephron, she just knew how to capture being a human being and all the complex emotions that go along with it. This is so sad and so romantic.
4. "I’m also just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her." — Anna Scott, 'Notting Hill'
This is a banger of a line. Maybe one of the best movie lines of all time. It sums up everything about love and about two people you could want.
5. "Winning that ticket, Rose, was the best thing that ever happened to me… it brought me to you. And I’m thankful for that, Rose. I’m thankful." — Jack Dawson, 'Titanic'
James Cameron delivered a romantic epic with some of the best lines ever. And this sums up what made the movie and the tragic love story so worth it.
6. "When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible." — Harry Burns, 'When Harry Met Sally...'
To me, this is the best romantic comedy of all time. And this final scene is the culmination of what we needed.
7. "I’ve loved you since the first day I met you. I’ve never stopped. I’ve just been waiting for you to catch up." — Dexter Mayhew, 'One Day'
I had to include this underrated gem in here. It's one of those ones you can pull out, no one has seen that is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
8. "I think I’d miss you even if we’d never met." — Nick Mercer, 'The Wedding Date'
I think this is also an underrated classic. It has such a fun premise and turns lust into love pretty quickly.
9. "I’m scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I’m with you." — Frances 'Baby' Houseman, 'Dirty Dancing'
So much has been said about this movie, but I feel like what people don't talk about is how good the dialogue is inside it. And the characters make these lines pop.
10. "To me, you are perfect." — Mark, 'Love Actually'
This scene gets a bad wrap, but I think it's cute and it's launched 1000 memes, but it still has our hearts.
11. "This kind of certainty comes but just once in a lifetime." — Robert Kincaid, 'The Bridges of Madison County'
Justice for old people's love! This movie rocks, and I feel like not enough people of my generation have seen it.
12. "You make me want to be a better man." — Melvin Udall, 'As Good as It Gets'
Another one of the most romantic movies of all time, this is Jack Nicholson playing into what he's great at. He starts as a cad, but by the ned you're totally rooting for him to get the girl.
13. "I wanted it to be you. I wanted it to be you so badly." — Kathleen Kelly, 'You've Got Mail'
Man, I was tearing up just typing this one out. I love this movie and that ending rocked you. It's so very happy and so very romantic.
14. "So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s going to be really hard; we’re gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, every day. You and me... every day." — Noah, 'The Notebook'
You can't make a romantic movie list without talking about this film. There are a lot of great lines, but this one sticks out as one I think people try to emulate. I've heard it at many weddings.
