Do you have a pitch-perfect musical short film in mind? Then Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia and AMUSE INC. want you to take part in their Musical Short Film Pitch Competition.

They are looking for "authentically interesting" musical short film pitches from filmmakers, producers, writers, or musicians. All entries are vying to win not only 300,000 yen, but also a chance for production.

As you might be able to tell, the theme of the competition is music, so films should consist of several musical works and/or songs. All films should be fictional and no longer than 25 minutes long.

How to Enter

Entering the Musical Short Film Pitch Competition is easy. Just fill out the entry form and upload your short film pitch. Pitches should include:

  • Plot (Under 200 words)
  • Photographic images and sound images of the world you envision
  • Entrant profile
  • Link to a showreel of past works or individual links to past works
  • Projected runtime

If you're chosen to move on to the next stage of the competition, you'll also have to submit the following:

  • Proposed cast and their profile
  • Proposed location
  • Screenplay for the selected pitch
  • License status

The competition is now officially open and will run until February 29th, 2020.

Finalists will be announced in April 2020, and the Amuse Musical Award (Best Pitch) will be announced at SSFF & ASIA in June, 2020.
