Panasonic has confirmed a new interchangeable lens will be added to the G series cameras with the Leica DG Vario-Summilux 25-50mm F1.7.

This new zoom is currently in development and pairs nicely with the Leica DG Vario-Summilux 10-25mm F1.7 ASPH that's currently available.

As with all G series lenses, the new 25-50mm zoom will cover Micro Four Thirds sensors using the Panasonic G mount. On a full-frame sensor, the lens is a 50-100mm equivalent, so with both lenses, you're covered from 20-100mm, which is pretty nice between two zooms all at a fast F1.7.

While no details were provided, expect a similar construction and element pairings within the Leica DG Vario-Summilux lineup.
