This Is Not Our First Webby
This isn’t our first time at the Webby rodeo. No Film School was founded on the spirit of DIY filmmaking, a legacy that started when our founder, Ryan Koo, won a Webby for his groundbreaking web series, The Westside.
I think it still holds up!
You can check out that throwback to our first win here.
We’ve come a long way since then, but our mission to empower the next generation of filmmakers remains the same.
And the episode we got nominated for kind of embodies everything we believe in here.
Why We Were Nominated: Writing a Movie in 3 Months
The piece that caught the Webby’s eye is a deep dive into the "How-To" of micro-budget filmmaking.
It was really popular for us, and I think it inspired a whole lot of people to make their dreams come true.
In the nominated episode, "How To Write a Movie to Shoot (In Three Months)," our very own GG Hawkins breaks down exactly how she went from a blank page to filming a feature in Panama on an ultra-low budget.
If you haven’t watched it yet, you’re missing out on some of the most practical advice we’ve ever published.
The video covers:
- Identifying Your Superpower: How to use the locations and collaborators you already have to build a script.
- The Power of Constraints: Why limited time and money can actually be a writer’s best friend.
- Killing the "Lone Writer" Myth: The importance of feedback loops and workshopping scenes with actors to find the heart of the story.
- Pushing Through the "Suck": Why your first draft (and your first table read) will probably be painful, and how to use that discomfort to reach the good stuff.
You can watch the full nominated episode below and see why it’s resonating with filmmakers all over the world!

We Need Your Vote!
The Webby Awards are the "Oscars of the Internet," and winning the "People's Voice" award depends entirely on you.
Your votes help us find new listeners and help us keep the lights on here.
If No Film School has helped you navigate a difficult shoot, pick the right camera, or finally finish that script, please head over to the Webby site and cast your vote.
Voting closes soon, so don't wait!
