The Atomos Shinobi 7 II is Another Bright, High-Res Monitor For Your Cinema Workflows
Atomos has announced a new Shinobi 7 II, aiming to deliver even brighter, high-resolution monitoring for those looking to control and view cinema camera footage.

Atomos Shinobi 7 II
Already a top option for many, the Atomos Shinobi line offers strong options for bright, high-resolution monitors for control, viewing, and working with cinema camera footage as part of film and video workflows.
However, the company is looking to kick things up a notch with this new Shinobi II 4K HDMI HDR Monitor and Camera Control version that should be even more uniquely tailored for the working video pro. Set to feature a 1920 x 1080 display with a high brightness of 2800 cd/m², plenty of on-device calibration features, and support for a wide range of uses, it looks quite promising.
Let’s explore.

As its name implies, this is a 7” on-camera touchscreen monitor that looks to be just as bright and capable as its predecessor, but with a few more bells and whistles.
Along with the 7" IPS LCD 1920 x 1080 HDR screen that is illuminated by a bright 2800 cd/m² edge-lit LED backlight (which should be easily viewable in daylight without a hood), the monitor will allow for viewing up to DCI or UHD 4K30 footage via HDMI 2.0 and output up to 4K30 via the HDMI 2.0 output.
It also features a USB-C control port that supports a variety of cameras from favorite brands like Canon, FUJIFILM, Nikon, Panasonic, and Sony. (You can check out a full list of options on the Atomos camera compatibility page.)
The Shinobi 7 II will allow users to monitor up to ten stops of dynamic range of their camera's Log image, which should help shooters accurately assess and capture scenes with a wider dynamic range than conventional monitors.
