Longtime friends and filmmakers Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary will be launching their first podcast together called The Video Archives Podcast on July 19 for SiriusXM’s Stitcher, and we are beyond excited.

Before becoming Best Screenplay Oscar winners for Pulp Fiction, Tarantino and Avary were just two cinephiles working at a video rental store called Video Archives in Manhattan Beach, California, where they watched, discussed, and recommended movies that would influence their later work as filmmakers.

On July 19, Tarantino and Avery will revisit that pivotal moment and the films that made them on The Video Archives Podcast. SiriusXM stated on Thursday that each episode of the podcast will focus on Tarantino and Avary rewatching and discussing movies pulled from the original Video Archives library, which Tarantino acquired in 1995 after the video store went out of business.

Tarantino estimated there are close to 8,000 videotapes and DVDs in the store he recreated in his home, meaning that there will be plenty of films to cover for the podcast.

You can listen to the full trailer here.

“We never imagined that 30 years after we worked together behind the counter at Video Archives, we would be together again doing the exact same thing we did back then: talking passionately about movies on VHS,” Tarantino and Avary said in a joint statement. “Watching movies was what originally brought us together and made us friends, and it’s our love of movies that still brings us together today.”

The podcast will feature Tarantino and Avary talking about movies like Dark Star, Moonraker, Demonoid, Messenger of Death, and the B-movie classic Piranha, while also covering everything from “controversial James Bond films” to surprising exploitation pics.
