I am a massive fan of the Reacher TV show. I think Alan Ritchson was perfectly cast, and each season has delivered the absolutely badass action and mystery storylines we have come to know and love from the books.

The show's faithful adaptation of Lee Child's novels, particularly the first season's focus on "Killing Floor," has garnered praise for its action, suspense, and Ritchson's sheer physical presence.

And Nick Santora's writing pops off the page and contains a lot of lessons for people who read the first episode.

As No Film School's resident screenwriter, when I love a TV show, I like to dig into the people who made it to see how they brought it to the screen.

And now, I want to share the Reacher pilot with you.

You can read and download it here.

Here are a few lessons you can pick up while going through the pages:

  • Character Development: How the writers translated Reacher's stoic personality and formidable skills from page to screen.
  • Structure: Analyzing the pacing and plot points, and how they established the show's tone and style.
  • Dialogue and Action: Understanding the choices made in crafting Reacher's laconic dialogue and the intense action sequences.
