Wow, thanks so much!! There's a little chapter in the book about the MirvishScope, too!! So glad it's working out, and I'd love to see what you're shooting!
well said! I talk quite a bit more in the book about why "dressing like a director" is key, but treating cast and crew with respect is more important. But can you really "dress like a nice person"? If so, then yes!
Thanks!!
Well, it's not a panacea - that's for sure. I talk about it much more extensively in the book. I'm not saying that would work for still photographers. DPs don't love it either - the angles and lighting are never going to be optimal if you reposition. BUT if you talk to any editor - especially TV editors - and most film ones, you'll find that zooming and repositioning is a lot more common than you think. We did extensive resolution tests on my film BETWEEN US, and found we could zoom in 150% and still hold the resolution well enough for the final output. That allowed us remarkable freedom in post, and saved endless time on set - particularly with a two-camera shoot (and that was all with an ASC cinematographer's blessing).
No, thank you!
Wes, thanks so much for your kind words, and yes! the book will make excellent Christmas, Hannukah and Kwanza gifts!! Pre-order now while supplies last :) And thanks for working on the aptly named film Loser with Peter: An essential film in Slamdance lore!
